Check your tow vehicle first
You need a properly rated tow vehicle and hitch. Tow requirements are confirmed at booking.
- Look up your vehicle's tow rating in its owner's manual and check your hitch, then check the trailer listing or ask us before you book.
- Washington requires safety chains when a vehicle tows a trailer (RCW 46.37.495). WSP rules call for two chains, crossed so the tongue can't drop to the ground, and not attached to the hitch ball (WAC 204-70-070).
- Vehicles in combination, such as a pickup towing a trailer, are limited to 60 mph, and posted limits may be lower (RCW 46.61.410).
- Secure every load so nothing drops, sifts or leaks. Cover dirt, sand or gravel on paved roads unless you keep six inches of freeboard in the bed, and clean off mud and rock before driving on pavement (RCW 46.61.655).
